Tollywood Hits and Flops 2012

All India Stuff exclusively brings you the Tollywood hits and flops of the year 2012. Tollywood has witnessed nearly a hundred direct releases this year and comparably to the last couple of years, Tollywood’s 2012 box office report card has good number of hits. The first half of 2012 has put up a big show with good number of hits while there is a decline in the graph in the latter half.
Here is our analysis of Tollywood Box-Office for the year 2012, Take a look folks!!!
2012 Telugu Hits
Mahesh Babu has started off the year with Businessman and being the immediate release after Dookudu, it earned superb openings for Pongal 2012. Siddharth’s debut production movie Love Failure made with a shoestring budget has brought him enough profits while he tasted a good success after a long time. On the other hand, Nithin who was undergoing rough phase of his career has got back his lost glory with romantic comedy Ishq while it’s the same case with Manchu Vishnu who earned success with Dhenikaina Ready. Actor Sunil scored a hit with comedy entertainer Poolarangadu in which he also flaunted six-pack abs that left many in a surprise.
The mega fans are quite happy this year with their stars scoring not less than hits at BO. While Ram Charan scored a commercial hit with Racha that garnered 45 crores plus collection figure, it’s Power Star Pawan Kalyan who took the Box-Office by storm with Gabbar Singh that has also made Harish Shankar a top-league director and the film ending up as second highest grosser of Telugu Cinema industry. Immediately after Gabbar Singh, Allu Arjun-Trivikram’s Julayi managed to entertain also getting into the list of one of the top grossers of 2012 as well as highest grosser in Allu Arjun career by making more than 42 Crores. Star director Rajamouli’s Eega lived up to the expectations and gave Telugu audiences a new experience also being Box-Office blockbuster at US box Office as well.
Low Budget winners
The year saw a bouquet of small-budget films that ended up as miraculous hits. The profits are huge for Maruthi directed Ee Rojullo and Bus Stop considering its low budget. Siddharth-Amala Paul Love Failure also falls under low budget genre. Yet another surprising hit of the year is Oka Romantic Crime Katha directed by Sunil Kumar Reddy. Ravi Babu’s directed Avunu horror thriller also made good sum, thanks to actress Poorna’s impressive acting skills.
Experiments & Critical-acclaims 2012
Star director Rajamouli’s graphical extravaganza Eega impressed tech-savvy. His big-budget experimentation was worth a watch for its brilliant execution and a great narration and audiences made it one of the biggest blockbusters of the year. It even turned a huge hit in Kollywood.  Nagarjuna has shed his stylish image and has chosen devotion flick Shiridi Sai directed by Raghavendra Rao that brought him good critical acclaims. Krishnam Vande Jagadgurum that carried powerful theme has attracted many for its meaningful dialogues. Balasubramanyam’sMidhunam earned good praises and the theaters were even being increased. Yeto Vellipoyindi Manasu by Gautham Menon also got good acclaims from critics.
Highly expected yet Failed!!!
Ravi Teja had witnessed quite a number of disasters this year in the form of Nippu, Devudu Chesina Manushulu and the latest one Sarocharu. His Daruvu also failed at the Box-Office this year. Bala Krishna’s Adhinayakudu andSrimannarayana failed to set the cash registers ringing. Prabhas Rebel was one of the most expected films of the year and it garnered superb openings at the Box-Office but due to its whopping budget of over 40 Crores, the film had bite the dust and it has later landed in controversy as well with producers complaining on director Lawrence and the latter was asked to pay 2.5 crores. Manchu Manoj’s UKUP and Mr.Nookayya brought huge losses to producers. Ram-Karunakaran’s Endhukante Premanta shot in the beautiful lavish locales with a huge budget turned out to one of the disasters of the year. Nagarjuna’s Damarukam turned out to biggest grosser of his career but at the end the film failed due to its heavy budget.
Dubbed films- Not a good year
2012 witnessed nearly 100 dubbed films from Tamil, Hindi, Hollywood but neither of them managed to make their mark despite few Super Stars (Vijay, Ajith, Karthi, Suriya, Dhanush)  films hitting the screens. Vijay’s Snehithudu, Karthi’s Shakuni, Dhanush’s 3, Ajith’s David Billa, Jeeva starrer MaskBrothers starring Suriya, Gajaraju, Nirantharam Nee Oohale were few of the Kollywood big-budget Tamil films dubbed in Telugu but  none of them turned out to be hits though Thuppakki and Brothers resulted as average grossers.
This is one of the good years Tollywood had in terms of the success ratethough few controversial issues set them back. The young actors and stars managed to bag huge openings with their craze that had helped the producers in the revenues and Tollywood is expected to reach new level in the coming years with big films, along with multistarrers to look forward in 2013.
Here is the list of the films released with good expectations in 2012…
